Surplus Trout Coming to 38 Impoundments in N.C this Winter

This winter, the NC Wildlife Resources Commission plans to stock surplus trout in 38 impoundments this winter across central and western North Carolina. Anglers can harvest up to seven trout per day – without bait restrictions and no minimum size limits. A basic fishing license is required which can be purchased online or by phone by calling the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. Staff are expected to stock more than 60,000 brook, brown, and rainbow trout, all of which will be 10 inches or longer from Nov. 30 through Dec. 22. Anglers are advised to consult this document for an up-to-date schedule prior to hitting the water.
