Charlotte’s Animal Care and Control has reached their goal of a 90-percent live release rate – meaning that 9 out of 10 animals are either reunited with their owners or go on to find forever homes. Tragically, just a few years ago, less than one out of every three dogs and cats made it out of the animal shelter alive. For the first time, the center has been designated as a ‘no-kill’ community.

Programs such as the ‘name your price’ adoption fee, the 900 to 90, and pet staycations have drastically helped the Animal Control meet this goal.
